In 1830, many people in BNA were not happy. The top of government was queen which is from Britain. It was not democratic because almost all government were not elected by vote. People who could vote was only Britain and over 21 years old.

Joseph Howe was politician and journalist. Lots of magistrates didn't like Howe saying bad things about them. When it was main day of his trial, he talked about unfair things about Elite for 6 hours.

1837 - 1838

The Rebellions of Lower Canada started when Government started to arrest people who they might to start the Rebellions. But Rebellion borke up,but Rebels were defeated by the British Government.
Upper Canada rebellions knew that soilders were busy with Lower Canada's rebellions so they tried their own rebellions.

He felt that British should give Responsible Government to the new formed colony of Canada. He thought it would help those in poverty.

They had first responsble government in BNA. Since Joseph Howe was elected, he was pushing the responsible government. James Boyle Uniake was leader of the Reform Party at the time because he won the election. So he became the first premier of Nova Scotia. First premier in Nova Scotia had authority to chose Executive Council.

Things didn't go so good in Province of Canada. British agreed the Responsible Government, but it didn't come right away. Canada East and Canada West opinions were so different. In 1849, Louis Hipployte LaFontaine from East and Robert Baldwin from west joined forces to create an Assembly to make enogh to make responsible government.
