uan Diaz de Solis became the first European to enter Argentina in search of gold.Many of the indigenous population of Argentina are killed by the diseases brought over by the Europeans.
Connection: After the discovery of the New World, the first European vessel that ever landed on the shores of Mexico struck keel against the coral rocks of Yucatan.
Impact on Present Day: One of the first manmade disasters in Argentina, because a large population of Argentina died as a result to the disease that the Europeans brought over.

Portuguese established a trading post


The Portuguese established a trading post near Buenos Aires.
Connection: English trade with Cuba. The English government would put tariffs goods from Cuba. The English government reduced the English market for Spanish Cuban tobacco.
