One of the Nazi leaders behind the Holocaust fled to Argentina where he was captured by some Holocaust survivors. Eichmann was extradited to Israel and convicted of 15 counts. He was found guilty of them and he was hung and later cremated.

Mechanical and human errors led to the partial meltdown of the Three Mile Island reactor which released radiation. This made public fears about nuclear activity and radiation soar.
Iran Hostage Crisis (15)

Iranian students stormed an American embassy and took over 60 hostages. A rescue mission was prepared, but a sandstorm ruined it. This crisis ruined Jimmy Carter’s reputation allowing Raegan to win by a lot.
Olympic Bombing (17)

Pipe bombing in Atlanta during the Olympics that killed one and injured 111 others. President Clinton denounced the act, calling it an “evil act of terror” and promised to find the perpetrator. Despite fears, the games continued.

President Bill Clinton was impeached for lying under oath after having sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. Impeachment led to the partisan nature of the trial and people questioned the morality of the government.
