A wave of New Monarchs that revitalized European Countries. This included Ferdinand and Isabella of a newly unified Spain, Henry VII of England who established the Star Chamber secret police, Charles VII who called meeting of Parliament and raised the profile of the monarchy. They got the three ingredients of power: money, muscle, and organization. The Monarchs took the power out of the nobles hands and built up things to keep their power. They built some of the first standing armies and had new sources of income such as the Taille land tax in France. In Spain Ferdinand and Isabella flexed their power through a religious cleansing and the implementation of the Inquisition.
