Harry S. Truman was president for the beggining of The Cold War Era. He was determined to have the Soviet Union with existing boundries.
Harry S. Truman responded to the invasion forcefully. He asked the United Nations to to send military forces to South Korea. 16 nations were sent, but 80% of troops were American.
The Korian war begins
The South and North Korean border was divided into the 38th parallel. On Jjune 25, 1950 North Korea invades South Korea. This was directly linked to the cold war.

1952 - 1961
An end to fighting
Peacetalks began in mid-1951, but the bloody war still went on. On 1952, Dwight D. Eisenhower became president and visited Korea within a few weeks of his victory. FInally on JUly 1953 the two had signed an armistance to stop the war.
The human cost for the Korean war was horrible. ABout 54,000 Americans lost their lives in the war, and nearly 2 million KOrean and chinese people lost their lives.
China enters the War
Since the United States was helping South Korea, they pushed back adn invaded North Korea. So China got in the war pushing the United Nations way back to South Korea. So the United Nations got together and pushed them back to North Korea.
