January 15th 1929 Michael King Jr. is born in Atlanta Georgia
1934 Michael King Jr. Sr., changes his name to Martin Luther King.
1934 Michael King Sr. changes his son's name to Martin Luther King Jr.
June 1948 Martin Luther King Jr. graduates from Morehouse College in Atlanta.
May 8th 1951 King graduates from Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester Pa.
May 8th 1951 King wins a grant to study at Boston University.
June 18th 1953 King marries Coretta Scott King
October 31st 1954 King is officially is inducted as a pastor.
December 5th 1955 King becomes the president of the Montgomery improvement Assc.
December 5th 1955 The Montgomery bus boycott begins.
June 5th 1955 King recieves his PhD from Boston University.
February 1957 King is named president of the SCLC
February 1957 The Southeren Leaders Conference is founded.
February-March 1959 Martin and Coretta visit India to learn more about Gandhi.
January-February 1960 King moves to Atlanta where the SCLC has it offices.
October 19th 1960 King is arrested during a sit-in in Atlanta
December 16th martin is arrested at a demonstration in Albany Georgia.
May 21st 1961 King speaks at a rally for the Freedom Riders in Alabama.
April 3rd 1963 king leads a demonstration in Birmingham, Alabama.
August 28th 1963 King's "I have a dream speech" and the on Washington March.
December 20th 1964 Martin recieves the Noble Peace Prize.
July 2nd 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act into law.
August 6th 1965 The voting Rights act is signed into law.
January 18th 1965 King launches a voting rights drive in Alabama.
March 21st - 25th 1965 King leads a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama
July-August 1966 King leads a series of unsuccessful demonstrations.
November 1967 King anounces the second phase of the civil rights movement.
April 4th 1968 On a return visit to Memphis, King is shot and Killed.
March 18th 1968 King speaks at a rally for striking sanitation workers.
