First City-State Arise in Sumer

5300 b.c. - 2334 b.c.

Arise in Sumer appeared in the forth millennium. It was the land of civilized kings.Sumer city-states were the center of the Sumerian culture.

Sargon of Akkad formed Empire

2334 b.c. - 2279 b.c.

He became a prominent member of the royal court of Kish. He was an Akkadian Semite from the line of Noah's son Shem. He conquered the dominant Sumerians, he created the first great Semitic empire.

Hammurabi's Code

1795 b.c. - 1750 b.c.

Was the ruler of Babylon, the worlds first metropolis. The Babylonian document Hammurabi’s Code is one of the most influential codifications of law in ancient history.

Athens formed Direct Democracy

1100 b.c. - 800 b.c.

The city-states were small, independent communities which were male-dominated and bound together by race.

Roman Empire formed

753 b.c. - 625 b.c.

The roman's ruled themselves. Rome's most famous citizen was no doubt Julius Caesar. He was Roman politician and conquered the vast territory of the Gauls to the north of his province in France.

Roman Republic formed

509 b.c. - 27 b.c.

The Romans overthrew their Etruscan conquerors in 509 B.C.E. Centered north of Rome. The Etruscans had ruled over the Romans for hundreds of years.

English Civil War

1642 - 1651

Fighting that took place in the British Isles.Charles officially began the war by raising his standard at Nottingham in August, 1642.

Glorious Revolution in England

1688 - 1689

This revolution is called ’Glorious’ because it achieved its objective without any bloodshed. James II came to the throne of England in 1685.
