The eastern woodland Indians were native Americans that lived in the eastern part of the United States. They usually lived in forests as you can predict because of there name.

Triangle trade was the trade that went from North America sending raw materials to Europe then Europe sending Manufactured goods to Africa and then Africa sending slaves to America.

San Miguel de Guadalupe was the first European settlement that settled in united states territory.

The 13 English colonies were colonies found by the British during the early 1600s through the early 1800s.

Colony that is overseen by an individual that has the same power as a government.

Royal Colony

A Royal Colony or 'Crown Colony" was a colony that was ruled by a governor chosen by the Monarch.

Rice and Indigo Trade

Rice trade dates back to the late 1600's and ended in the late 1800's. Indigo trade started in the 1600's and lasted through the 18th and 19th century.

The French and Indian war was a war that was fought between the British against the French. The British won the battle with the help of allied Indians.

Cherokee war was the conflict between the British and Cherokee tribes.

The British Parliment raised taxes on sugar and it made most colonies who grew sugar went out of business.

An unsuccessful uprising in NC and SC where colonists went up against colonial officials.

The stamp act was the act of taxing things such as legal documents, magazines, newspapers and many other types of papers.

Denmark Vesey Plot

The Denmark Vesey plot was an idea to start a slave uprising lead by Denmark Vesey after he became a free man. But the plot leaked out to authority's and he was arrested.

The Abolitionist Movement was basically the movemne of ending slavery.

This Nullification Controversy was between John C, Calhoun and Andrew Jackson which was over tariffs and Great Britain.

A plantation system was a divided up piece of land owned by someone which was usually mainly for farming.

Slave codes were codes that were made in 1848 that would protect slave owners from being so abusive to their slaves.

Kansas-Nebraska Act

The Kansas-Nebraska act created territories of Kansas and Nebraska, opening a new settlement.

Dred Scott Decision

The Dread Scott decision meant that government had no power over slaves in the territory's and Blacks were not protected by the constitution and were not considered to be a U.S citizen.

Ft. Sumter is a fort located in Charleston. The battle fought there was during the civil war and was the turning point of the war.

The election of 1860 was between Abraham Lincoln and John C. Breckinridge which in the end Lincoln obviously won.

The Creation of the Confederate States of America was created because the south did not agree to the norths decisions and they secede from the union creating the confederate states.

William T. Sherman created total war which was basically him in the south destroying and killing everything in his path which would get the confederates attention and leave the war to go protect their family's.

Lincoln's Assassination

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865 at 10:14 exactly. He was shot then stabbed to death by John Wilkes Booth.
