A commission as set up to investigate child labor in factories

1832

Factory Act #1: Children 8 and under could not work in factories

1833

Children between 8-13 years old could not work for more than 9 hours a day

1844

Women and children under 18 could not work more than 10 hours a day over a 6 day period.

1847

Children under the age of 10 could not be employed

1878

School was compulsory for children up to 10 years old

1880

The minimum working age was raised to 12

1901

School was mandatory for children up to 14 years old

1918

All citizens under the age of 18 had to go to shool.
