The Brothers made 4 brief flights that day using their first motor powered airplane. They didn't use it to fly over anything, but models after that did.
This plane was flown by Henri Fabre. The seaplane could be used to get to the surface of the ocean so you could quickly go underwater.
The Ilya Muromets had 16 passengers on board on it's first flight. From Saint Petersburg to Kiev, they crossed the Atlantic Ocean to get there.
The jet was flown by German Erich Warsitz.
This was invented by Igor Sikorsky, and today is used to travel all throughout the globe.
Don't worry about it. It immediately killed it's inventor. If you're wondering when the flying car is coming, it already came and was literally a disaster. http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1375622.1371567166!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_750/flying-car-sale.jpg
