The Meeting of the Estates General

May 5, 1789 - June 17, 1799

The french government was having financial issues. King Louis XVI called a meeting of the Estates General to discuss these matters. The first and second estate voted against the third estate. The third estate broke away from the other estates.

Armies surrounded France on all sides. Revolutionary government decided to take harsh measures against those who were suspected. Maximilian led this.

The rise of Napoleon and Creation of an Empire

1799 - 1804

Napoleon was a military leader who led many soldiers in the French Revolution. He took the crown from the Pope. The French like him a lot.

Napoleon's Empire Collapses

May 18, 1804 - December 2, 1804

Napoleon was obsessed with power. He tried to take control of Great Britain. He made three huge mistakes. After these mistakes his empire was very weak. His enemies took advantage of his weakness. Then his empire fell.

The Congress of Vienna

November 1814 - June 1815

An assembly that reorganized Europe after Napoleonic wars. This happened before the Waterloo and the defeat of Napoleon. Europe understood this settlement the most out of all of the other they ever had.
