Achieved a tenure at Saint Petersburg University teching inorganic chemistry.

Mendeleev transformed the university into an internationally recognized place for studying chemistry.

Created the periodic table and published The Relation between the Properties and Atomic Weights of the Elements.

Married Anna Ivanova Popova

Mendeleev married Anna Popova after being obsessed with her and threatened to commit suicide if she refused. He divorced his old wife, Lescheva, a month after he married Popova.
