Colonel Juan D. Peron

1946

Peron is electd to the presidency; his popular wife, Evita, is put in charge of labor and health relations.

Ousting Peron

In September, after three days of bloody fighting, a military coup succeeds in ousting Peron, who goes into exile; the federal constitution of 1853 is restored.
