Abraham moves to Can

Abraham moves his tribe to the land of Canaan given to him by God.

Birth of Abraham

Born in UR in Mesopotamia

Joseph moves the Israelites to Egypt

Approx. 1650 BC

The descendants of Abraham, Joseph and his 11 brothers moved the tribe to Egypt to escape famine in Canaan. He becomes an important ruler under the Pharaoh

Exodus from Egypt by the Isrealites

Approx. 1300 BC

Moses leads the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, led by God

Jesus is born in Bethlehem, Judea

Approx. 0 AD

Jesus is born as the Son of God, accepted by the Christians, Jews and Moslems accept him as the prophet of God.

Jesus begins his ministry

Approx. 30 AD

Jesus is anointed by John the Baptist and begins his ministry as the accepted Son of God

Jesus is crucified

Approx. 33 AD

Jesus is crucified and raised up to Heaven

Apsotle Paul spreads the word of Christ

Paul dies at the hands of Rome

Jews are murdered and their temple destroyed during the persecution by Rome

313, Constantine and Licinius issued the Edict of Milan decriminalizing Christian worship

Council of Nicaea


Council of Nicaea - Called by the Roman Emperor Constantine, it was the first ecumenical conference of bishops of the church.

Birth of Muhammad

570 AD

Muhammad was born in Mecca

Muhammad marries Khadija

595 AD

Muhammad marries his wife, at age 25, she is 40 and a wealthy businesswoman for whom he worked.

Muhammad hears the Angel gabriel call him.

610 AD

He hears a voice calling to him and believes it to be the Angel Gabriel, telling him to begin preaching.

Muhammad begins preaching


He begins preaching in Mecca, calling is Islam which means submission to the will of Allah. Muslin means one who has submitted.



Muhammad moved to Yathrib in Medina 200 mi North with his followers and became a political leader.

Muhammad returns to Mecca


He takes 10,000 followers back to Mecca to overthrow all the false idols and destroys them in the Ka'bah

Death of Muhammad

632 AD

Muhammad dies at age 62 in Medina, where he had been forced to emigrate to with his adherents in 622
