Renaissance

1300 - 1600

Time period directly after the Middle Ages. During this time, innovations such as the printing press and gunpowder was created and theories in astronomy and mathematics were made. Ultimately, it was a period of advancement.

Forbidden City

1420 - 1912

Palace created for Ming Dynasty rulers in China. It was known as "forbidden" because typical people weren't allowed inside.

Printing Press

1440 - 1450

Created by Johannes Gutenberg. Spread important documents such as The 95 Thesis

Early Modern Era

1450 - 1750

The period between the Middle Ages and the Industrial Revolution. During this time mercantilism was used, which is a trading system where a country attempt to export more than import to become prosperous.

Columbus discovers America

1492

After Columbus finds America, the Columbian exchange begins.

Martin Luther and the 95 Thesis

1517

Martin creates the 95 thesis because he disapproved of the church selling indulgences. Indulgences are grants given to forget about whatever sin the buyer has committed.

Protestant Reformation

1517 - 1648

Cultural and religious time that spread across Europe. Multiple advocates fought for Christian practice. Although, they got what they wanted, many wars came along with it.

Spain Conquers Aztec

1521

Aztec was conquered by Hernando Cortes and his army.

Babur Begins Mughal Empire

1526

This empire was created as a base for Babur who was a refugee.

Spain Conquers Inca

1532

Francisco Pizzaro conquered the empire because he yearned riches. Two contributing factors to the defeat were disease and civil war.

Nicolaus Copernicus

1543

Created the heliocentric theory that the sun is the center of the universe.

Scientific Revolution

1550 - 1700

Period of advancement in mathematics and science. A few examples are algebra, geometry, and Newton's laws of motion.

Ottomans Complete North African Expansion

1574

Songhai is Destroyed

1591

They were invaded by Moroccans and had access to gunpowder unlike the Songhai. The cattle that they were using to fight were frightened by the gunshots and ultimately the empire collapsed.

Dutch East India Company

1602

Dutch based trading Company that was formed in order to protect Indian Ocean Trade. The trades that took place were within Asia and between Asia and Europe.

Thirty Years War

1618 - 1648

Main cause of the Enlightenment. Protestant rebellion triggered this war. The war was fought between Catholics and Protestants and it was fought for territorial and religious reasons.

Enlightenment

1685 - 1815

Time where people challenged those in charge and new ideas. New ideas/concepts were introduced, which laid the base for future leaders
