French and Indian War

1754 - 1763

A war between the British and French for North American land. The battle was won by the British granting them land that is currently eastern America and British Canada (the commonwealth)

Final conflict in the ongoing struggle between the British and French for control of eastern North America. The British win a decisive victory over the French on the Plains of Abraham outside Quebec.

the Boston Massacre

1770

British troops storm into Boston and murder 5 men which eventually led to revolts against the British government and the independence movement.

The Boston Tea Party

December 16, 1773

Group of patriots dressed as Mohawk Indians board ships in the Boston harbor and dump 300 crates of tea into the waters as a protest against the unfairly imposed British tea tax.

First meeting of the Colonial Congress

The first colonial congress meets to discuss what could be done about the imperialists who were haunting the colonialists.
