First Crusade

1096 - 1099

The first crusade took place in the Eastern Mediterranean. It involved William of Normandy and Harold Godwinson. The winners were the Muslims.

Second Crusade

1147 - 1149

The second crusade took place in Egypt, Anatolia, Levant and Iberian Peninsula. The involved leaders were Louis VII and Conrad III as a team and Nureddin. With this crusade there wasn't really winner because both armies were separately defeated by Seljuk Turks.

third crusade

1189 - 1192

The third crusade took place mostly in Anatolia and Levant. The leaders involved were Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, King Philip II of France and King Richard I of England. Richard and Saladin signed a treaty that left Jerusalem under the control of Muslim, which ended the third crusade.

fourth crusade

1202 - 1204

The fourth crusade took place in the city of Constantinople, capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. The involved leaders were Crusaders of Western Europe, but was called by Pope Innocent III. This crusade was basically a disaster, because their original plan of going to Egypt didn't end up happening. So there were no benefit for Christians neither for Muslims, leaving the Venecians, who got to conquer a bit of land.

fifth crusade

1219 - 1221

This crusade took place in Egypt and Levant. Pope Innocent III was planning the crusade but died July 16 1216 so his successor Pope Honorius III continued the preparations. The result of tis crusade was an eight-year truce between the Ayyubids and the Crusaders.

sixth crusade

1228 - 1229

This crusade took place in the near east of Europe and in Cyprus. This crusade was lead by Louis IX of France. It ended when he invaded Egypt and captured Damietta, but was defeated and kept prisoner.

seventh crusade

1248 - 1254

This crusade took place in Al-Mansourah‎ and Egypt. The main leader was Louis IX. As a result Ayyubid won this crusade.

eighth crusade

1270

This last crusade took place in the city of Tunis. Louis IX again led this crusade. This last crusade was aimed at the Holy Land, but was a failure.
