Steven Sasson, an engineer at Eastman Kodak Company invented the first electric camera. In 1986 , the first digital camera was created and by the late 1990's these digital cameras had replaced film cameras for most customers.

Sharp (a Japanese media company) invented the first camera phone. Today, most cellular devices have a camera incorporated and many people use their phone as a replacement to a camera altogether.
