German-Soviet Non-aggression pact

August 23, 1939

Adolf Hitler and Joseph STalin surprised the world when they signed this pact. They both used this pact to their advantage. Adolf used it so he could invade Poland and Joseph used it to keep peace while he build up his army.

German Invasion of Poland

September 1, 1939

Hitler believed that invading Poland would bring living space to the " racially superior" a.k.a the Arian race.

US passes Neutrality Act

November of 1939

This lifted the arms embargo and put all trade with belligerent nations under the terms of "cash and carry" ( goods are paid for in full at the time of purchase and tooken away by the purchaser.

Battle of Britain

July 10, 1940 - October 31, 1940

The Royal Air Force defended the United Kingdom against the German Air Force attacks.

German Invasion of Soviet Union

June 22, 1941

This was called operation Barbarossa. This was the destruction of the Soviet Union by military force.

Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor

December 7, 1941

This surprise attack from Japan killed more than 2,000 american soldiers and sailors wounded 1,000 people and destroyed nearly 20 american naval vessels. This forced the US to join WW2.

Battle of Stalingrad

1942 - February 2, 1943

A major battle which results in a Soviet Victory, the destruction of the German 6th army and Axis rose strategic initiative on the Eastern Front.

Executive Order 9066

This order authorized certain areas as military zones.
