America's attempt to put something living into space also. It was a chimpanzee named, Ham.

Nov. 28th, 1967

Went to Mars to take pictures

Apollo 11

July 19, 1969

First manned mission to send men to the moon and back.

Pioneer 10

March 2nd, 1972

First spacecraft to make it to Jupiter and take pictures. Sent data back for about 30 years after its launch.

Mariner 10

Nov. 3, 1973

It's objective was to take pictures of Mercury and Venus

Voyager 2

Aug. 20th, 1977

Sent out to study Neptune system and Uranus systems.

Voyager 1

Sept. 5, 1977

The first satellite to do a fly-by of Jupiter and Saturn and take pictures.

Hubble Telescope

April 24th, 1990

the goal was to launch a telescope into space. No more missions planned to fix or renew the telescope's orbit.


Oct. 15th, 1997

To be the first probe to land on a the moon Titan.

International Space Station

Nov. 20th, 1998

A laboratory in space. 38 countries are involved with sending up astronauts to do test and grow plants in space.

New Horizons

Jan. 19th, 2006

Get information on Pluto and other objects in the Kuiper Belt.


Mar. 7th, 2009

It's mission was to find planets that are similar Earth.

Curiosity Rover

Nov. 26th, 2011

To see if there was water on Mars.

ISS One Year Mission

Mar. 27th, 2015

Have the first american astronaut in space for an entire year.
