Old Kingdom

New Kingdom

1600 B.C.E - 1100 B.C.E

This time period is often called Egypt’s Golden Age. At this time is when ancient Egypt’s power reached its height. Pharaohs increased trade and had huge monuments built.

The Pharaoh Hatsheput

1473 B.C.E - 1458 B.C.E

Hatsheput was known for encouraging trades and she shared power with her male relatives. Greatest achievements her rise in power. She filled her government with loyal advisers. Her biggest trade expedition was to the African Kingdom at the southern end of the red sea. There was also a great temple at Deir el Bahari with two monuments called Obelisks.

Ghana Empire

1235 BCE - 830 BCE

The "Ghana Empire" is properly known as Awkar: Ghana or Ga'na was the title of its ruler; however, it is commonly referred to as Ghana. It was located in what is now southeastern Mauritania and western Mali.

Mali Empire

1230 CE - 1600

also know as mandingo empire.The Empire of Mali was one of the largest empires in West African History, and at its height it spanned from the Atlantic Coast to central parts of the Sahara desert

Songhai Empire

1401 - 1600

Also known as songhay. The Songhai Empire was a state that dominated the western Sahel in the 15th and 16th century. At its peak it was one of the largest states in African history
