Students create accounts and play games on Sploder & Gamestar Mechanic.
Students continue to play games chosen by the teacher and the games are evaluated as a class (teacher led) for attractive game elements using the Game Design Rubric as a guide.
Students form groups & brainstorm game ideas for their game design project taking into consideration using critical game elements
Students create a mind-map of their game idea over the next 3 project days using Gliffy.com or Bubbl.us. They will refer to the Game Design Rubric.
Students will create their storyboards on poster board or large index cards using Digital Is Blog & You Tube video(s) as a guide.
Students use tutorials to learn chosen game platform and begin initial design of their game using their mind-maps and storyboards as a guide.
Students continue designing and refining their game using self reflection and peer collaboration with the provided rubrics and teacher support until a final design is completed.
The class (teacher led) evaluates other game presentations via video for preparation.Students then will give their final game presentations to the class/teacher using the Presentation Rubric.
Students will play each others' created game and share final thoughts. Parents, other classes, & staff will be invited to play as well.
