Adams Sacked

February 2009

Tony Adams is sacked as manager after 7 consecutive defeats. The club are just above the relegation zone. Adam's blames the lack of finances.

Non Payment

October 2009

Rumours are spreading that players and staff at the club have not been paid


February 2010

Portsmouth become the first Premier League side to ever enter administration after a winding up order from the HM revenue and customs.

FA Cup final

May 2010

Portsmouth once again reach the FA Cup final just five years before they are in League 2. This time however, they are beaten by Chelsea and relegated in the same season.

Debt Chasers

January 2012 - February 2012

HM Rev. are chasing a debt of more than £1.6M unpaid taxes. The club enters administration for a second time.


May 2012

The club are relegated to League one and the entire playing staff leaves.


April 2013

The fans takeover the club after a very long legal battle. However, the joy doesn't last long as the club are almost instantly relegated to League 2.

Season tickets

July 2013

Over 10,000 season tickets are sold - a record for League 2.

Debt Free

September 2014

The club are announced to be completely debt free!


May 2016

Portsmouth are competing far better in the league this year and Johnny Ertl says they now have a competitive playing budget. Could this be the season that Portsmouth start their rise back to the top?
