Nazi book burnings

Nazis wanted to keep everything under there ideology so they held book burnings to destroy works by jews and anything they didn't agree with

The Nuremberg Laws

September 15th 1935 - September 2nd, 1945

An antisemitic set of laws which restricted employment and citizenship of Jews and other non Aryan people.

Kristallnacht

November 9, 1938 - November 10, 1938

A turning point in the Holocaust where Police officers and hitler youth ransacked jewish businesses and beat and killed the jews inside.

Nazis invade Poland

September 1st 1939

The Nazis invade Poland and simultaneously bombed their planes and artillery. This is the official start of WWII

WWII

September 1, 1939 - September 2, 1945

Where the Axis Power (Germany, Italy, Japan and other smaller countries) wages war on the Allied Forces (America, Britain, and the Soviet Union but only at the end.) the Allies win

The Battle of Stalingrad

August 23rd 1942 - February 2nd 1943

A major battle in WWII where the Nazis fought Germany for the city Stalingrad. The allies eventually won the battle but not without many casualties.

Nazi death marches

January 18, 1945 - September 2, 1945

At the end of the war they marched jews from concentration camps through cities to evacuate them but most of them ended up dying due to the terrible conditions and any stragglers where shot

Nazi book burnings

This makes finding jobs very hard for max and his family struggles.

Krystallnacht

November 9, 1938 - November 10, 1938

Max had to go into hiding with the help of Walter but he also has to leave his family behind.

WWII

September 1, 1939 - September 2, 1945

Hans is sent to the German Army and breaks his leg because the truck he is in runs over a land mine and flips over so he gets sent back. The Allies bomb Himmel Street and it kills everyone there except for Liesel. All supplies are low and Rosa loses all of her customers in her washing buisness.

Nazis invade Poland

September 1st 1939

Hitlers voice is the only thing on the radio and people start to prepare for bombings. Food at stores is now being rationed

The Battle of Stalingrad

August 23rd 1942 - February 2nd 1943

Death foretells that Hans Junior eventually dies there. and he will be working overtime during the battle referencing the immense casualties.

Nazi death marches

January 18, 1945 - September 2, 1945

Hans helps an old jewish man up and offers him bread, (he later gets sent to the army as punishment.) Liesel runs up and hugs Max as he is on a death march. She is pushed aside by a guard and Max is whipped
