1774 - 1792

The last French king before the French revolution, in which he gets dethroned and executed. This relates to concept 2.

Simon Bolivar

1783 - 1830

The military leader that took much of South America out of the rule of Spain. This relates to concept 3.

French Revolution

1789 - 1799

The revolution of the French people against the class system that resulted in a short republic rule that then was taken over by Napoleon. This relates to concept 3.

Haitian Revolution

1791 - 1804

The only successful slave revolt, the Haitian Revolution turned the French colony of Saint-Domingue into the Republic of Haiti. This relates to concept 3.

Cotton Gin Developed

1793

Eli Whitney developed the cotton gin, which separates cotton much more quickly than it previously was by hand. This relates to concept 1 because it was part of a string of inventions that developed the cotton industry.

A series of revolutions in Latin America that led to the independence of a number of Latin Countries. This relates to concept 3.

A series of wars by France led by Napoleon against various European powers. This relates to concept 2.

Reign of Napoleon

1804 - 1815

The militaristic leader of France after the revolution had gone to shambles. His actions eventually caused the Congress of Vienna to meet. This relates to concept 2.

Congress of Vienna

1814 - 1815

A gathering of European ambassadors held in Vienna in order to create a plan for long term peace in Europe and fix the stuff Napoleon messed up. This relates to concept 3 because it was a reformation of the state of Europe.

War of Greek Independence

1821 - 1832

The war between the Greeks and the Ottoman Empire that won the Independence of Greece. This relates to concept 3.

Opium War

1839 - 1860

The war between China and European powers sparked by China not allowing Europe to sell opium to them. This relates to concept 1.

Communist Manifesto Published

1848

The communist manifesto was a political pamphlet written by Karl Marx promoting the idea of communism. This relates to concept 3 because it was the first to give the idea of communism.

Women's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls NJ

1848

The first women's rights convention in history. Women met to discuss what rights they believed they had in society. This relates to concept 3.

A revolt against the Manchu Dynasty in Southern China. This relates to concept 3.

The Sepoy Rebellion

1857

The rebellion of troops in India along with native Indians that ended in Britain taking direct control of India and the end of the Mughal Dynasty. This relates to concept 3.

Charles Darwin's book explaining his theory of natural selection and evolution of life. This relates to concept 1.

Emancipation of Russian Serfs

1861

The Emancipation of the Russian serfs was the first step in a government shoving itself into the 20th century. This relates to concept 3 because this was a part in a major Russian reform.

The unification of the small states of the Italian peninsula into a large country with Rome as the Capital. This relates to concept 2.

The rebellion of native South Africans against the Dutch East India Company. This relates to concept 3.

A conference of European powers to discuss trade and imperialism in Africa. This relates to concept 2 because the colonization of Africa was a major part of new Imperialism.

The organization founded to lead India into independence. This relates to concept 3.

Boxer Rebellion

1900

An uprising in China against foreign influence. This relates to concept 2 because of the circles of influence that caused the uprising.

The Russo-Japanese War

1904 - 1905

The war between the two government enforced industrial countries that ended with Japan showing that it was a force in the modern world. This relates to concept 2.

All-India Muslim League Founded

December 13 1906

A league founded to protect the political rights of Muslims in India. This relates to concept 3 because this was the beginning of Islamic nationalism in India.

Mexican Revolution

The long revolt of Mexican lower class that morphed over time into a war between several different powers. This relates to concept 3.
