This Interregnum was brought about by the Brothers Lepidus and Cephorus, the two sons of the Kaiserin Delphine the First. Upon her assassination the brothers each bid for the throne though Lepidus was the rightful occupant. During the twelve year Civil War that ensued neither was crowned officially. During this period the Noble House Trost, which had ruled as the Sovereigns of the Kingdom of Lumina centuries earlier, before its peaceful annexation into the Republic, made its bid for the Imperial Throne denouncing the two brothers as Enemies of the State. With the Imperial Senate behind them, House Trost was able to best the armies of Lepidus one he had dealt with Cephorus. In 1924 Cephorus died, and Lepidus bent the knee to House Trost signaling his recognition of their rise to the Imperial Throne and his fall from grace. The High Kingdom of Night put up stiff resistance but with the solid military foundations of the Fourth Empire she was able to overcome that resistance and finally incorporate the High Kingdom back into Roseheim which hadn't been done since the Second Empire's collapse.
Over the course of her Reign the Fourth Empire entered a Golden Age under her careful and meticulous rule. The Kaiserin suffered a blow to her emotional state when her son and heir, along with his wife were killed in a car crash. She moved quickly and nominated her infant grandson as her heir and fortunately he survived and would go on to succeed her when she abdicated at the age of Ninety Four. She passed away peacefully eight years later at the age of One Hundred and Two, in the year 2101.

House Durrox starts off as nothing more than blacksmiths in the City of Avenheim, the City State at the forefront of Hyphesion Politics and Power. House Durrox gained noteworthiness in the second century BF (Before Founding) when they forged the Great Sword "Moonsinger" from a fallen star (meteor). Wielding this blade and supposedly blessed by the Gods, House Durrox slowly built a power base among the City's Crafting Guilds until they had enough muscle and power to seize the Archonate and proclaim themselves Doge Eternal. For the next Century each successive Durrox to hold the post was more power crazed and war hungry than the last until finally Praxis set off and conquered all his foes reforming the lands under him into the Empire of Roseheim (Konnigreich Roseheim). For his thirty three year rule, constant political assassinations, kidnappings and wars brought the Empire to its knees upon his death. His eldest nephew Calixtus succeeded him. Little improvement was made as Calixtus had a "thing" for little boys and girls and routinely "deflowered" them with little caution. Soon his craving grew too intense for the Aristocracy to bear as he demanded the eldest son of a Noblemen be "deflowered" by him. The Capital of Avenheim was also heavily renovated during this time becoming a City of White Marble and two more tiers of walls were added to the already formidable one tier.

The War of Unification is when Kaiser Praxis I of House Durrox united the City States into the First Empire of Roseheim. The war itself was rather simple and straight forward as Praxis convinced eighteen cities to join him, and the city of Rosenwald in a war to end the infighting. Uniting the Northern League, Praxis then went to war against the Eastern League of Cities in 72 BCE. Following the war which was extremely one sided all, forty cities of the Western League willingly joined Praxis' Empire. However in 70 BCE, the Southern League, containing eighty cities and their colonies declared war upon the Empire of Roseheim in an attempt to restore the status quo which they dominated.
