Every week night of my junior year I would stay up until 2 am studying and working on AP Biology. I would then sleep and wake up at 6:30 for school. I became so used to the lack of sleep that I thought I was invincible. I ended up not being invincible, and got reoccurring headaches for a week or so. I took several Advils a day and realized that my health was more important than the class at the moment. I began to reassess my time management skills and I think I've become a much more responsible person because of it.
After months of preparation, the SAT rolled around! I ended up not doing too well and took the ACT a couple months later instead.
Coachella was an amazing experience! The music was superb. The food was delicious. The art was mind-blowing. The lights were fantastic. The people were unbelievable. There was so much happening at once that it is easy to get lost in the trippy world that is Coachella.
I went with my father to Senior Financial Night. I did not learn anything new form going to this event and I felt as if I had wasted 2 hours. I left with some pamphlets and brochures however they were not very informative. The night overall did not help me during my college applications process.
The week of AP Exams was a blast because I didn't feel any stress, knowing that everyone else was struggling away while I made the best decision ever and did not take any AP courses this year.
My first rally as ASB Spirit Commissioner. The Welcome Back rally was quite a challenge as we really only had 2 weeks to learn what previous years did, what we have to do, and execute. It was a great learning experience and didn't turn out as bad as I had expected.
Homecoming Rally was ridiculous. The amount of time and energy that went into it made it really special. The decorations were outstanding and there was a huge amount of class participation. It made me really proud to see my fellow classmates working together outside of the classroom. I remember cheering so much that during the rally when I called out Boy's Water Polo my voice cracked and then all of a sudden... nothing! I was screaming into the mic and nothing was coming out. It was not as embarrassing as it was downright hilarious. The other spirit commissioners still give me a hard time about it.
I hosted the Valkyries Winter Show with my best friend, Neil Thekdi. It was a blast especially because we had no time to make up introductions for different acts or time to rehearse. We ended up hiding in the PE equipment storage room while the acts were going on, making up introductions to the next act. Not only did the event turn out great but everyone loved our impromptu skits & spontaneous jokes.
I practiced with 3 different age groups in 2 different clubs to try and excel at water polo over the summer. I went to a world class camp held by the #1 coach in the US, the head coach of the USC Men's team, Jovan Vavic. I practiced 6-8 hours a day and triple practices were not uncommon. I would just have enough time to get home and eat before I had to get ready to get back in the pool again. I learned to adapt to the exhaustion and still hang out after all the practices were over. It was definitely a trying time for me both mentally and physically.
Varsity Water Polo conditioning begins. Practice runs 7:20-10:30 & 2:30-5:30. It was not as tough as it only lasted four days this year, but it was important to increase our overall fitness and improve team cohesiveness.
This game was quite the turning point in my high school water polo career as the ref made a bad call which made both my coach and mainly myself very unhappy. I should have gotten the turnover however nothing was called, potentially costing us the game. I started playing more physically and with more intensity after that call, which carried on until the end of the season.
It was my first concert and I was really excited that my dad was letting me go. He even bought me the $75 ticket! I will never forget the look on my dad's face when he saw what the people in line were wearing. I could tell he was very uncertain about me going.
Junior Prom was a blast! I had the best time with my friends, tearing up the dance floor as usual. My date was fantastic and she had an amazing time as well. All in all a good night :)
I began working as a lifeguard at the Brookside Club of Saratoga in November. I am currently working there as well as lifeguarding/swim instructing at Saratoga Star Aquatics. I love my job although the pay could be a little better. Haha
I went snowboarding with my cousin for my birthday. I had a blast and hit the terrain park everyday. At the end of the last day, during a night session, I ended up slipping off a box and smacking my shin on the metal coping. The friction melted a part of my pant and skinned a part of my shin under the pant, through my thermals. The bone is now much thicker in that spot than the rest of my shin.
This was the most confusing day of my life. I don't think I will ever understand the point of Daylight Savings time. It is just a complicated and unnecessary alteration to everyday life.
