God created man out of dust, and created woman from the rib of the man, so that he would not be alone. He made them in his image, and gave them dominion over all living things. God told them to be fruitful and multiply. "A man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh. and the man and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:24-25).
Men who had a deceased brother, were expected to marry the wife of his brother and have a child with her, so that their son could take the deceased father's name and property, since woman did not have the authority to own property at the time.

Ezra told the Israelites to reject their wives and children if they were foreign. by separating themselves from the outsiders, they were increasing their chances of survival.
"the body is meant not for fornication but for Lord, and the Lord for the body".
"Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself" .
Jesus told the pharisees that God created men and women to be together, and that no one should separate them. He says that "anyone who divorces their wife, except for unchastity, and marries another commits adultery".
