Add a Link to Your Timeline

You can add a link to your timeline in two ways.

Paste a URL

There's nothing special you need to do. Insert the URL into the notes for your timeline, layer, or event, and Preceden converts it to a link when the notes are displayed.

Customize the Link Text

To choose the words a link displays, use this format in your notes:

[Link name](http://example.com)

For example, to create a link named Google that points to https://google.com, enter:

[Google](https://google.com)

This works in timeline, layer, and event notes alike. Links in notes, whether pasted or written this way, open in a new tab.

Link to a File

Preceden lets you add an image to an event, but it cannot store other kinds of files, such as PDFs or Word documents. To include one, upload it somewhere else (like Box or Dropbox) and link to it using the instructions above. Here are step-by-step instructions for Dropbox: Link to a Dropbox File.

Videos work the same way, since they cannot be embedded either: Add a Video.
